SoundForest, choreographed by Anita Feldman with sound processing and music by Arthur Solari, performed by Hofstra University students in April 2014.
SoundForest creates layers of tapping rhythms, along with electronic processing of the sounds and music by Arthur Solari, played live by Mr. Solari and Jordan Chiolis. It is inspired by the quiet of a winter’s dusk, and the interspersed, unexpected, and sometimes hidden sounds and movements among the trees. Luiza Karnas, a visiting dance student who was at Hofstra on scholarship from the Brazilian government, was featured as a soloist and assistant choreographer. The piece was performed by Hofstra dance students in 2014.

Monkey Mind, choreographed by Anita Feldman, performed by Hofstra University dance students, April 2013
Monkey Mind is a tap dance inspired by the fragmented nature of the music Lick by Julia Wolfe, and our fragmented, difficult-to-control and unpredictable “monkey minds.” It was performed by Hofstra dance students in 2013, and is danced on the "Tap Dance Instrument" designed and built by Anita Feldman and Daniel Schmidt.

Hexa is danced and played on The Tap Dance Instrument, a multi-timbre, multi-pitched modular floor I invented with instrument designer Daniel Schmidt, and also includes live percussion and electronic processing of all of the sounds. Hexa was named for all the sixes in the piece - hexagonal floor shapes, six feet on the Tap Dance Instrument, six percussion instruments played by the musician - and for the magical connotations of "hex" and "hex sign.” These are excerpts from a performance in 2012 by Hofstra University dance students.
